BlackBerry® devices purchased directly from Research In Motion (RIM) are covered under a one (1) year warranty for defects in material and workmanship from the date the product was shipped. If you did not purchase your device directly from RIM, please contact your service provider for warranty information.
If your device is no longer covered under the one (1) year warranty, but requires service, you have three options:
Return Device for Repair

If you choose to return your device to RIM for repair, please keep in mind:
- You are responsible for the cost of shipping the device to RIM.
- You will be without your device for approximately 15 business days.
If the device is damaged beyond repair RIM will contact you and will either ship the device back to you or destroy it, in which case a $50 US inspection fee will be charged.
If your device has been water damaged, or has alkaline battery leakage, it cannot be repaired or exchanged. In this situation, a new device is recommended.

If you choose the Exchange service program, please be aware:
- You will receive your replacement device within 5-7 business days. RIM will include a pre-addressed waybill for the returning device and RIM will be responsible for the return shipping provided that waybill is used.
- If the old device is not returned within 10 business days or is damaged beyond repair (including water damage or alkaline battery leakage), RIM reserves the right to charge a fee:
