BlackBerry MVS Server

BlackBerry® Mobile Voice System (BlackBerry® MVS) is designed to unify fixed and mobile voice communications to provide one business phone number, one caller ID, one voice mailbox, and office phone features through BlackBerry® smartphones.1.2

BlackBerry MVS Server is designed to integrate into a variety of telecommunications environments. It supports mixed TDM and IP PBX environments, as well as homogenous IP PBX environments. You can leverage the value of your existing PBX system or upgrade to the latest technology as it becomes available. BlackBerry MVS Server is designed to mobilize telephony features such as call transfers, switching between calls and call filtering.

BlackBerry MVS Server has been customized for the following PBX systems:

  • Cisco® Unified Communications Manager 6.1 and later

Server Hardware

• Rack-mount chassis with redundant power supplies
• Intel® Xeon® Dual Core 3.0 GHz (or better) processor
• 2 GB RAM or more (4 GB recommended)
• Two or more 146 GB (or larger) hot-swap drives that are configured as RAID 1 or better, logical drive with 60 GB primary partition, and an extended partition that spans the remainder of the drive’s capacity (configured as the C: drive and D: drive)
• DVD drive 24x or faster
• Dual on-board NIC
• One available PCI-X slot
• Intel® PRO/1000 MT Dual Port Server Adapter (P/N: PWLA8492MT) for voice network traffic

 

Server Software

Microsoft® Windows Server® 2003 R2 SP2 Standard or Enterprise (32-bit versions only)
Microsoft SQL Server® 2005 SP2 Standard or Enterprise on the BlackBerry® MVS Server

 

Media Gateway

One or more of the following media gateways:

• Dialogic® 2000 Media Gateway Series
• NET™ VX1200

 

Voice Network

• Connectivity to the public telephone network
• PBX supporting ISDN-PRI (T1/E1) with QSIG signaling protocol
• Dedicated VLAN within the voice network
• A Direct Inward Dial (DID) for each BlackBerry® Mobile Voice System user
• 5 Additional DID for each 100 BlackBerry Mobile Voice System users

 

BlackBerry® Enterprise Server

• BlackBerry® Enterprise Server version 4.1 SP5 or later for Microsoft® Exchange
• BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 4.1 SP5 or later for IBM® Lotus® Domino®
• BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 4.1 SP5 or later for Novell® GroupWise®
