Research In Motion Licenses Intellisync Synchronization Platform From Puma Technology To Enhance New Inter@ctive Pager
Waterloo, Ontario - Research In Motion Limited (TSE:RIM) today announced it has licensed the Intellisync software platform from Puma Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: PUMA) to act as the synchronization solution for the new RIM Inter@ctive™ Pager. The Intellisync-powered RIM software will enable users to seamlessly synchronize contact, calendar, and to do's between a number of other popular PC-based personal information manager (PIM) software programs and PIM applications on the RIM Inter@ctive Pager.

The RIM Inter@ctive Pager is a revolutionary two-way pager that allows users to both send and receive full-length, error-free, alphanumeric messages with guaranteed delivery. Users can create custom email, faxes, alphanumeric pages and more from the palm of their hand. The second-generation Inter@ctive Pager features a wide range of major improvements over the original model including smaller size, lower weight, extended battery life, higher performance, increased memory, improved LCD display, easier-to-use keyboard, new thumb-operated roller wheel, menu-driven interface, enhanced messaging applications and a lower price.
Commercial availability on select RIM products is expected during Q1 calendar 1999. Pricing is not yet available.
