PaperIQ Launch Digital Pen Version 3 for BlackBerry Smartphones

Users can now search and view their handwritten meeting notes on their BlackBerry smartphone

ORLANDO, FL – Wireless Enterprise Symposium 2008, (Booth#646) –BlackBerry® Independent Software Vendor (ISV) Alliance Member and WES 2008 Silver Sponsor PaperIQ today launched version 3 of its award-winning Anoto Digital Pen application for mobile professionals using BlackBerry® smartphones from Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSX:RIM).

Existing users of the application will notice a fresh new user interface that separates Forms and Notes into separate views. However, the brand new Written Notes view is a completely new concept that not only displays every handwritten note uploaded from your digital pen, but also allows you to email a PDF of any notebook page to colleagues. This view is also searchable using MyScript® InkSearch® technology. Regardless of whether your notes were recognized when they were originally written, InkSearch uses an index of all your notebooks’ handwriting on the PaperIQ Server and can rapidly locate pages with a given subject or containing a specific phrase. The ranked results are then returned to your BlackBerry smartphone where you may even view the original handwritten context of the matched items.

Other additions to version 3 include custom corporate and user dictionaries. You may now add custom words to your handwriting recognition dictionary and modify the recognized character set via the Digital Pen application on your BlackBerry smartphone to enhance the handwriting recognition of unusual words and phrases. Companies who have deployed PaperIQ Enterprise Server for Enterprise Notes may also maintain a centralized dictionary that will be applied in addition to the standard and custom user dictionaries when recognizing notes. This allows key company terms such as product names and industry terms to be easily added and recognized.

The Digital Pen application for BlackBerry smartphones is available in 7 languages: US English, UK English, French, Spanish, Dutch, Italian and German.

PaperIQ is demonstrating this latest version of Digital Pen on BlackBerry smartphones at Wireless Enterprise Symposium in Orlando from May 13 – 15, 2008 in booth #646. In addition PaperIQ will also be presenting this solution in a WES session entitled “Meeting Notes Made Easy with my Digital Pen for BlackBerry” on Wednesday, May 15th at 10.30.
