Getting Started

Modifying Your Facebook Account Preferences

You must first complete the following tasks in your Facebook® account to set up the Facebook for BlackBerry® smartphones application:

• Change the email address to which Facebook sends notifications so that it is an email address that is associated with your BlackBerry smartphone.  Change your notification address now.
• Turn on all of the notifications that you want to receive on your smartphone.  Change notification settings now.

Using Facebook on your BlackBerry Smartphone

Once you have Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones installed, here are a few tips to help you on your way.

Note: Depending on your smartphone, the Menu key may either be the key to the left of the trackball on your BlackBerry smartphone, or the trackwheel on the right hand side of your BlackBerry smartphone.

• Log in to Facebook

1. On the Home screen, click the Facebook icon
2. Type your Facebook login information
3. Click Login

• Set your Facebook status

1. On the Facebook for BlackBerry smartphone Notification list screen, press the Menu key
2. Click View Status Updates
3. Type a status
4. Click Update
5. Press the Menu key
6. Click Close

• Write on someone’s Wall

1. On the Notification list screen, press the Menu key
2. Click Write on a Wall
3. Type part of a friend's name
4. Click a friend
5. Click Continue
6. Type a message
7. Click Post

• Upload a picture to your Facebook account

1. To upload a photo either
   • Once logged into the Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones application, click Upload A Photo, and click on a picture
   • OR on the Home screen of your smartphone, click the Media icon, then click the Pictures icon. Highlight a picture then press the Menu key. Click Send To Facebook
   • OR take a picture using the BlackBerry camera, press the Menu key, then click Send To Facebook
2. Perform any of the following actions:
   • Complete the Caption field.
   • Specify an album
   • Click Edit Photo Tags

• Visit the Facebook mobile web site

1. On the Notification list screen, press the Menu key
2. Click Go to Mobile Site

To return to Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones, press the Escape key.

To use Facebook® for BlackBerry® smartphones you require the following:

• A wireless data service plan from your wireless service provider
• A Facebook account. If you don’t currently have one, set up a Facebook account now.
• A BlackBerry smartphone with 64 MB of memory
• 170 KB of available smartphone memory
• BlackBerry® Device Software Version 4.2 or later
