Follow the instructions below to set up and begin using Windows Live Messenger.
  1. Create a Windows account now if you don’t have one
  2. After you’ve created your account, click the Windows Live Messenger icon (after you’ve downloaded the app) on your BlackBerry smartphone homescreen.
  3. Enter your Windows Live ID email address and password, then click Sign In.
Start using Windows Live Messenger for BlackBerry smartphones

Now that you’ve downloaded and created an account for Windows Live Messenger for BlackBerry smartphones, you can begin chatting with your IM contacts while you’re on the go!

  • Add a contact by clicking Contacts on the Windows Live Messenger screen. Then, click Add a Contact. In the email address field, enter your contact’s email address. Click OK to finish.
  • To set your availability status, click the trackball when on the Windows Live Messenger screen. Click My Status, then select your status from the option list. Finish by clicking OK to update your status.
  • Start a conversation by first selecting and clicking an online contact from the Windows Live Messenger screen. Select Start Conversation, then type a message. Send your message by clicking the trackball.
  • To enter an emoticon while typing a message, press the Symbol Key twice on your BlackBerry smartphone. Then, click the emoticon that you wish to send.
