Download AOL Instant Messenger™ (AIM) for BlackBerry® smartphones and stay in touch
with friends.
- Download AOL Instant Messenger for BlackBerry smartphones.
- Register for an AIM screen name if you don’t already have one.
- Once you’ve downloaded AOL for BlackBerry smartphones and created your screen name,click the AOL Instant Messenger icon from your BlackBerry smartphone home screen.
- Enter your AIM screen name and password, then click Sign On.
- To automatically sign into AIM for BlackBerry smartphones each time you turn on your device, select the Auto-Sign On check box.
Begin using AOL Instant Messenger for BlackBerry smartphones
- Add a buddy by pressing the Menu key on the Buddy List screen. Click Add Buddy. In the Screen Name field, enter your buddy’s AIM screen name. Finish by clicking OK.
- To set your availability status, first press the Menu key on the Buddy List screen. Then, click My Status, and select a status. Finish up by clicking OK.
- Start a conversation by highlighting a Buddy on the Buddy List screen, then click the trackball or trackwheel. Type your message, then press the Enter key to send it.
- Add an emoticon to your conversation by pressing the Symbol key twice or three times when typing a message. Click on an emoticon from the menu.
