Using the BlackBerry® Web Development Plug-in for Eclipse™ update site, you can download and install the BlackBerry Web Development Plug-in for Eclipse directly into an Eclipse™ install.

Installation Instructions

If you’re using Java® 2 SDK, Standard Edition v6.0, obtain Update 14 (or higher) of the Java 2 SDK v6.0 from the Sun Microsystems website before downloading the plug-in using the Eclipse Update Mechanism.

  1. From the Help menu, select Software Updates… to open the Software Updates and Add-ons window
  2. Select the Available Software tab
  3. Click the Add Site… button:
    1. In the Add Site dialog, type the URL http://www.blackberry.com/developers/webeclipse into the location text box
    2. Click the OK button, BlackBerry Update Site appears in the Available Software list
  4. Select all of the items under BlackBerry Update Site
  5. If you haven’t installed the Web Tools Platform:
    1. Make sure Ganymede Update Site is available, since all dependency plug-ins will be downloaded from that site
    2. In the Ganymede Update Site, under Web and Java EE Development, select Java EE Developer Tools, JavaScript Developer Tools and Web Developer Tools

  6. Click the Install… button
  7. Click the Next > button
  8. Check I accept the terms of the license agreement radio button after reviewing licenses
  9. Click the Finish button to begin installation
  10. Note: You’ll need to enter your BlackBerry® Developer Zone login ID and password in an authentication dialog. Due to security policy, you may be authenticated multiple times. If you don’t have a Developer Zone login, register for access to the BlackBerry Developer Community
  11. After successfully downloading the files, you’ll be prompted to restart the Eclipse Platform. Choose to restart the platform
